Hemp-based products

Hemp is everywhere right now. It may even feel as though it came out of nowhere; but, did you know that the first traces of hemp dates back to over 10,000 years ago? From China to the United States, and everywhere in between, hemp has been used in some form throughout history. Even the Declaration of Independence was signed on hemp paper. There are an estimated 25,000 things that can be made from hemp. Here is just a sample of what this amazing plant can do:

Ink

Hemp oil can be used as a base for non-toxic ink. Compared to the more popular materials like soy, hemp ink requires minimal processing and dries faster.

Batteries

Hemp batteries can be produced at 1/1000 of the cost of our regular energy system and can also outperform current battery technologies. Converting to hemp-based batteries is a replacement for hazardous and non-environmentally friendly battery options.

Plastic Products

Hemp plastic is said to be 2.5 times stronger, and 5 times more durable, than our regular plastic products. Hemp plastic also doesn’t pose any health risks like glass fibers. Because hemp plastic is so diverse, there are many types of hemp plastic:from infused plastic to 100% biodegradable.

Paint/Varnish

Hemp seed oil is a great alternative for painting porous surfaces like raw wood. This product is quickly absorbed into the surface and hemp oil creates a durable finish. It also dries quickly which makes for a great feature in varnish.

Shampoo

Many shampoos on the market strip the hair of necessary oils which leads to dryness and irritation. With hemp oil being high in nurturing fatty acids omega-3 and omega-6, as well as Vitamin E, it is nourishing for your hair. Some have said that it can reduce hair loss as Vitamin E has been shown to stimulate capillaries for better blood flow.

These are only some of the basic things that hemp could make. Hemp could be the answer in preventing more damage being done to our planet, daily. Switching over to hemp-based products isn’t just an environmental boost but it could boost our economy, as well. With thousands of jobs being created, and the goods being often more economical to make, it only makes sense to consider it in your life or business.
